Emergency Vets and The Pirate

This pic was taken yesterday but Im just getting around to posting it. Seems as if it was time for both my DD and I to visit the vet with our animal kids. As you can tell from the pic, my trip to the vet was with Bugs. He just turned 11 and his right eye was bothering him(hence, the nickname, The Pirate). I took him in and he has an ulcer on his eye. They are trying antibiotic eye drops for three days to see if they help. If not, then its eye surgery, euhhh... Of course, putting in the eyedrops worked GREAT the first time.. he had no clue what it was, now he just sees the bottle and tries to hide his face...
DD left here and drove back to her place (two hour drive) and noticed that one of her two cats was laying around on the bed. He was lethargic and when they looked closer, the side of his face was all puffy. She had left Pedro and Napoleon in the apt while she and the dog were up by us. I guess the two cats had had a tussle and a bite on his face had gotten infected. Midnight trip to the emergency vet, $300 later, tubes, stitches, pain meds...etc. He is now home and healing. Having pets to care for is sooo good for her......
Anyway, its always something.

First, I adore the cat names, hahahahahaha!
And yes, I understand about vets. Our Katie managed to get in a cat fight on the July 4th weekend with the same infection results. We had to drive into SLC to find a animal clinic open and paid through the nose for the treatment.
Boy, with all of my animals, past and present, I could own a small country with what I've paid in vet bills!!
Horse leg problems will put in in the soup kitchen for sure!
Hope they are both recovering nicely!
Yes, we animal owners know about vets don't we? I look at it as a learning experience though, I am learning that things to happen and I need to be prepared for them, for my animals now, for my kids as well later.
Every seemingly small trip to the vet ends up as a $200-$400 vet bill (especially if it is for checkups for both girls)
But we do it....
...and eat peanut butter sandwiches for a week or two...
