Hmmm.....half my day..

"It's a "b" not a "d"....
this is how half my day is spent....In my little room at school. Its amazing what they expect kindergarteners to know. So, that when they come to me in First Grade they begin to struggle. so, many kids dont even have the language skills to tell you about their day let alone to tell you about the story they just read. No one carries on conversations with some of them so they don't learn how to do it effectively....This is a POD of my whiteboard. I have the kids try to read their ABC's conversationally.

It is amazing the gap in education in those little guys, isn't it?
My sister tells me some childern in kindergarten have never seen a crayon, others are full-blown readers. Kindergarten teachers have a huge challenge on their hands.

I subbed for a kindergarten class once. They were writing short paragraphs about what they did over the weekend, and then I had to take them to the carpet to do addition problems....

...when I went to K it was all fun, games, and letter people.
