The end of the month and onward

Ok, I made it thru a month of POD. This has inspired me to continue on with other ways to capture some memories. I am not a scrapper of me... I have done books for both my kids, my inlaws, pets, etc. I'll continue on.
Todays POD celebrates my journey to the back of my DS closet. The picure at the left is the "after" picture. the other is a pic of a memory quilt that my DD and I made for him as a gift for his high school graduation last year. I am sure you have seen pictures of quilts like this one. It is tshirts from his growing up years. Scout camp tshirts, cross country running shirts and shirts that he got on some vacations. I know I have posted about this quilt before but being that I "found" it in the back of his closet I thought I would post it again. Today, I will be sorting thru all the bins of things in his room.

Emergency Vets and The Pirate

This pic was taken yesterday but Im just getting around to posting it. Seems as if it was time for both my DD and I to visit the vet with our animal kids. As you can tell from the pic, my trip to the vet was with Bugs. He just turned 11 and his right eye was bothering him(hence, the nickname, The Pirate). I took him in and he has an ulcer on his eye. They are trying antibiotic eye drops for three days to see if they help. If not, then its eye surgery, euhhh... Of course, putting in the eyedrops worked GREAT the first time.. he had no clue what it was, now he just sees the bottle and tries to hide his face...
DD left here and drove back to her place (two hour drive) and noticed that one of her two cats was laying around on the bed. He was lethargic and when they looked closer, the side of his face was all puffy. She had left Pedro and Napoleon in the apt while she and the dog were up by us. I guess the two cats had had a tussle and a bite on his face had gotten infected. Midnight trip to the emergency vet, $300 later, tubes, stitches, pain meds...etc. He is now home and healing. Having pets to care for is sooo good for her......
Anyway, its always something.

He needs a "Clean Sweep"

I have always wanted this show to come to my house. Well, now that DD has left I am back to my week long project in my DS room. I braved the uncharted territory this morning and opened his closet. The theme for the clean sweep show is that if you dont use it get rid of it. Well, DS moved into town in August and has not opened this closet door since then. My immediate reaction is to just close the door and seal it with duct tape!

Dog Days of Spring Break

We have had a crazy two days. DD and new pup came up and our older dog turned 11. Trying to get three dogs to get along isnt that easy. My two dogs didnt want anything to do with this little guy...not sure what was up with that.
Spring Break continues and I can now sit back and relax before I tackle to closet sorting....

Monday, March 27, 2006

Just entering my first day of Spring Break and was moving boxes around in my closet. I found my box of albums and thought I would play some... I still have over 300 albums and love to listen to them. My little sound system has a turntable,cd player and a cassette player. All it lacks is an 8 track and I would have all decades covered!! Always a good time. That is a Dave Mason album playing.

A room with a view

Its raining. That sounds fairly mundane but its a big transition. Instead of snow, we now have rain. Spring must be here. Of course, we can still and probably will have some snow in the next few months but for right now its 36 and rainy.
The point of my mini weather report is that the rain has sent me back into my DS room to continue my sorting. I now have an 18 gal. bin full of cords; tv, computer, internet, phone, etc. What intrigued me is when i lay on the lower bunk of my sons room(I was trying to reach a scanner he had sitting on the far side of his bed) and I looked up. The first pic is some computer parts that he had screwed into the bottom of his upper bunk. Pretty cool stuff.
The other picture is of the various computer towers that he had around his room. I have gathered them together for him to go thru when he comes over tonight. He also has six computer monitors in various stages of "repair". DS is a classic example of nonacademic brilliance. He never enjoyed school but can fix a computer in a split second. He would forget his homework constantly while in high school and yet would come home and run a water cooling system thru his computer tower, out the window of his room and back into the computer just to see how cool he could get it and how fast it would run. Anyway, I blather on and on. I am continuing my quest thru his room. Today I shall brave the impossible.... open his closet door......

Dog Days of march

After reading Joes blog i chose my POD accordingly. The pic is of my two "boys" watching the deer in the front yard. Our favorite show is "The Dog Whisperer". We have learned alot from that guy.
Today, our Spring Break begins at school. Ahhh a week off from school. DD and her new puppy will be coming to visit for two days...cant wait!

Hmmm.....half my day..

"It's a "b" not a "d"....
this is how half my day is spent....In my little room at school. Its amazing what they expect kindergarteners to know. So, that when they come to me in First Grade they begin to struggle. so, many kids dont even have the language skills to tell you about their day let alone to tell you about the story they just read. No one carries on conversations with some of them so they don't learn how to do it effectively....This is a POD of my whiteboard. I have the kids try to read their ABC's conversationally.

Peetee and Me

Ok, I am trying to stick with my POD. So, today I spent some time with Peetee. My dd guinea pig. She got him in High School but left him with me after she left. His cage sits high above the top of the computer desk(curious dogs doncha knon). So, I cleaned his cage and attempted to take a pic of he and I...I have to clean his cage in the bathroom, with the dogs butting their noses agains the door wanting to get in. From what I understand Guineas live about 5 years.. Peetee is 7....every day is abonus!!!

50 degree party

When I was in college in central Wisconsin we would have huge 50 degree parties...winter was nearing its end and it had actually reached 50 degrees.. well, today it reached 50 degrees and I actually went without a coat after school....ahhhhh...
so, today i have two POD's . The first one is of the thermometer in the car when I reached home. the second is a laughable picture of my winter coat. I have worn that thing from October until now. I may need it in the mornings before school but by noon I may be ready for a spring coat! Welcome to the Flathead Valley, Montana!

A new appreciation for "working the corner"

This pic is sideways mostly because I cant get my pic software to work but i figured it was appropriate to reflext how sidways my day was. I am an instructional tutor....language arts tutor to k-4. I do that most of the day with a couple recesses thrown in every day to make me question my sanity. Well. I got to step in a be crossing guard this morning before school. All tutors have been trained but it has been years since I have been called.. Well, let me tell you.. these people are way under paid...this crosssing is on one of the busiest intersections in the state. logging trucks, construction trucks, cars cars cars... and only about a third of them are paying attention and seeing me, geeze...when I have to step out on the curb and look behind me to see if the drivers actually have seen me step out.....and on the days in the winter that we keep the kids inside because its too cold, these ladies have to be out there.... so next time you drive past a crossing guard, give them a honk and a wave......
I get to "work the corner" LOL tomorrow morning once again!! Lecture over..

Milestones in the life

Todays PODs are actually for March 1st and March 19th respectively.
The first pic is a milestone for me after I downloaded it. I realized that I
had just taken a picture of my DD and my DH drinking cranberry margaritas....
When you can sit and toast your daughters birthday.. geeze.... I am getting old.
DD celebrated her 22nd birthday on Feb. 28/March 1st(actual day is Feb. 29th.)
The second POD is a milestone because we hope that it will take us into a new future. We
have decided to sell a wooded lot next to our home. We have been holding on to it as a
buffer so no one builds next to us. We decided it was time, pay off the mortgage and then
maybe a job change. Who knows... The kids move out and we go mental...haha!

Easter Bunny Meets Donnie Darko

Ok, at times, I can be a bit twisted. Today I began getting my Easter decorations out and saw this bunny in a box. i decided to take a pic of it for my POD. It was hand done by an aunt of my DH and is very cute......
Somehow, when I decided to take the pic without the flash on my cheapo camera this is the result... it looks demented and like it was from the movie Donnie Darko.....
Just had to post it.

Happy St. Patricks Day!!

Today is one of my favorite days of the year. I celebrate my Irish heritage! My dd was an Irish Dancer for years and I loved watching her and friends dance!Growing up our milk, bread, butter, etc all mysteriously turned green on this day and it did it also as my two kids were growing up. We always had a great time.
The pictures are more symbolic than anything. The cd is Celtic Dance and I have been listening to it all week on my drive to work. the mug is on my table at school.

Adjust the mirror and talk to Onstar...

Ok this picture is very obscure but it is the setting for my blog for today. I was adjusting the mirror in my car after someone else had driven it...and lo and behold...Onstar turns on.... We dont even subscribe to it.... "Hello, onstar..is there is an emergency in the vehicle??!!"... I was like.. gulp..... "No, i pressed the button by accicent when adjusting the mirror!"
I felt like a bad kid getting scolded...I didnt even know it would work if you didnt subscribe...yikes.. it is nice knowing that I could press the button if i need it and I dont have cell service(which is about half of the 12 miles between town and home). but still .. scary that they can just click it on like that...

Back to "normal"

After our crazy two days with a new puppy and dd visiting today was much calmer. the temp is hovering at around 19 today... spring will be hard to come by here this week. The kids at school are eagerly awaiting spring break in about ten days and it will be nice having a week off. Todays pic is out the window of my sons room. I am sorting his things and I often forget to look outside to see how nice it will be in a few weeks. The white you see in the background is a frozen lake....

Here is todays picture. My dd new pup. He has been to the groomers and they are on their way back home. Very cute, but she has no clue how much work she is in for!! It will be a true adventure...of course she has not mentioned getting married. All she has ever said is that she has wanted to get a dog... gulp... now she has the dog... watch out world!!

My daughters new love

Well, my dd now has a new love in her life.... Billy... he is a four month old cockapoo..... between her bf and our two dogs... there are a few attituge adjustments going on!!they go back to their town tomorrow...

Sunday Sorting

This picture shows what my day will consist of. Zip ties, plastic bags, containers and a dogs head. I am beginning the arduous task of sorting thru my sons room. He has moved out recently leaving things behind in his room ranging from car engine parts, computer power cords, Thomas the Tank Engine models, cans of keyboard keys(anyone need a spare J key?) and four computer monitors all in degrees of disrepair.
The dogs head part is because everything that I do in this house, including taking pictures interests the dogs.. That is the top of one of their heads in the lower right corner of the pic.

Here is a picture out the window of my craftroom/computer room.We had a bit of snow last night but it is near freezing now so it should melt off. we live on a dead end road so its nice and quiet. The fenced in area is my garden. We have very strong willed deer in the area so if I dont fence it off, they have a free lunch!!The shadows are from two trees.  Posted by Picasa

Here is DD with a certificate me made for her as a birthday gift. We gave her some $ to go towards her puppy purchase...she will be getting her little pup on Sunday. Posted by Picasa

A bit over exposed but still happy. DH, DD and I celebrating her almost 22nd birthday on March 1st. She is a leap year baby so no "real" birthday this year.  Posted by Picasa

Here I am contemplating the idea that I am old enough to have a child graduating from college... Posted by Picasa
